Cabinet to propose parliament to ratify intergovernmental highway transport agreement

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ At its regular meeting on June 20, the cabinet decided to submit a bill on ratification of the Agreement on Conducting International Transport through Asian Highway Network between the Government of Mongolia and the Government of the People’s Republic of China.
With ratification of the intergovernmental agreement, the following results are expected:
-Door will be open for Mongolian freight companies to conduct transport to third countries, compete on global market, and enter new passages for transit transport.
-The country’s international trade horizons will be expanded.
-The country will enjoy tax, customs and insurance discounts.
-A possibility to establish service complexes for both drivers and passengers for rest, repair and other services, equipped with the latest technologies, report the Cabinet Secretariat.
According to transport statistics for the past two years, 98 percent of passengers and 47 percent of freight were carried by auto roads.
