Livestock herders’ symposium commences

In his speech for opening the State Symposium of Herders, commenced today in the Government Palace, Prime Minister J.Erdenebat underlined: “Thanks to great hard work of our livestock herders, number of the country’s livestock population, by the end 2016, has reached 61.5 million, which is the historic record, and the value of products coming from animal husbandry amounted to over 3.0 trillion tugrugs. This is a major contribution by herders to the country’s economy”.
More than 800 representatives of livestock herders and animal farmers are attending the symposium, organized by the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry, taking place in Ulaanbaatar on 26th and 27th of May. Discussions are considering the government policies toward herders, implementation of national programs on Mongolian Livestock, Livestock and Animal Health and Intensified Animal Farming, draft law on livestock gene-pool, winter and spring conditions for livestock herding, survival rate of newborn livestock as well as preparation of hay and fodder for 2017.
