Government bodies to set up councils for protecting rights of disabled

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The cabinet has ruled that all ministries and the Department of Communication and Information Technology are obliged to have non-vacant councils on ensuring the rights of the disabled.

The decision was finalized at the cabinet’s regular meeting held on Wednesday, April 12. Secretaries of State of the Ministry of Justice and Home Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Road and Transport Development are current members of the non-vacant council under the Prime Minister.

The non-vacant councils will be in charge of solving problems facing the disabled workers, such as the accessibility in public transports and buildings.Matters of improving their living conditions, healthcare, labor safety, social and psychiatric services, inclusion in cultural and sports events, discovering their talents and promoting their creativity will also be the councils’ concerns.

The cabinet resolution on establishing non-vacant councils sets out that council must be capable of providing professional consulting and preparing and submitting proposals on ensuring that the disabled enjoy their rights and their interests are protected.
