Premier’s working visit in western aimags starts
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Working visit of Prime Minister J.Erdenebat in western aimags started today, March 23 in Khovd city, Khovd aimag. He was welcomed by Governor of the aimag D.Galsandondog and other officials with a ceremony by honorary guards at the central square. Western region’s center Khovd aimag has a population of 83500.
One feature of the aimag is that it has not used its mineral resources much; only Khoshoot coal mine in Tsetseg soum operates in its full capacity and 2-3 small-scale gold mines operates there. Authorities of the aimag expressed their interest to be involved in the Government’s “Gold-2” project.
The PM stated that as a result of this visit, he has made a decision to complete the 260 km road paving en route Bayankhongor and Gobi-Altai within this year.
Khovd aimag is a multi-ethnical groups’ province, having 13 ethnic groups and 98 per cent of them are Kazakhs. On March 22, PM J.Erdenebat with his accompanying officials participated in Nauryz festival, greeting and wishing happiness and health to all Kazakh people in Mongolia. Kazakh people expressed their gratitude to the PM for attending the national festival of Kazakhs. They aslo underlined that even though there has been a lot of snowfall in the passing winter in the province, a huge snowfall in the first days of spring during the PM’s visit was a good sign.
PM J.Erdenebat also visited a family of A.Shaizan, who had worked in the Statistical office of the aimag for 33 years and father of 5 children.
