Case of S.Zorig’s murder to be tried at appellate court

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The trial is arranged to take place next Tueday, March 14, at the Municipal Appellate Court on the case of assassination of the renowned political figure Zorig Sanjaasuren.

After the trials, conducted last December behind closed doors, Ts.Amgalanbaatar, T.Chimegee and O.Sodnomdarjaa were inflicted sentences of 24-25 years of imprisonment condemned for violent assault for greed.

Former parliament member S.Oyun, younger sister of late S.Zorig and founder of the Zorig Foundation, has filed a complaint to the court of appeals after the conclusion of the court decision.

The court of appeals have accepted her complaint and announced the date of the next trial.

Sanjaasurengiin Zorig was one of the “Golden swallows of democracy”, the pioneers of democratic movement of Mongolia that took place in the early 1990s. He had been working as a member of parliament and cabinet at the time of his alleged assassination in 1998.
