Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ At the weekly “Hour of Solutions” meeting, the PM Ch.Saikhanbileg received the State Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Sports S.Lambaa and a director of the National Research Center for Infectious Diseases D.Nyamkhuu, on March 16.

The Premier informed them that the cabinet at today’s irregular meeting resolved to raise 948.3 million MNT from the Government reserve fund for the measures against the measles outbreak, and accordingly, he assigned the officials to launch vaccination campaign nationwide, involving all 18-30 aged people.

Occurrence of measles cases had been zeroed since 2011 thanks to the series of vaccinations among children aged 3-14 in 1994, 1996, 2000, 2007 and 2012. However, measles broke out in March, 2015, requiring additional vaccination, which eventually took place from June 2015 among six-month to six-year-old children. As a result, the number of cases dropped dramatically.

Nevertheless, most cases of measles have been happening among people aged 18-30, stressed Mr S.Lambaa.

The latter said that general hospitals, pediatricians and emergency departments have been working overtime, and still lack work-force. “We are involving retired doctors, medical personnel and resident doctors. The ministry have been working for providing the overtime benefits of the doctors and nurses”, he added.
