Defense Minister receives US Ambassador
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On October 30, the Minister of Defense Ts.Tsolmon received the Ambassador of the USA to Mongolia J.Z.Galt to discuss about the two countries cooperation in defense and Mongolia’s permanent neutrality.
Both sides stated that the cooperation has achieved a high level in the last 25 years.
Minister Tsolmon underlined that Mongolia’s geographical location requires it to have balanced relations with its two great neighbors- Russia and China, also, demanding it to establish strong ties with “third neighbors”. Support and assistance from the USA facilitates Mongolia with more cooperation opportunities, he said.
Mongolian and American troops have been serving shoulder-to-shoulder in the NATO Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan, he added.
Ambassador Galt inquired about the permanent neutrality of Mongolia and shared her views with the Minister.
The USA carefully observes the neutral status of Mongolia, noted Ms Galt and expressed confidence in the good results it will bring to Mongolia’s foreign policy.
Present at the meeting were, acting head of the Foreign Cooperation Department of the Ministry Brigade General Ch.Sosorbaram and head of the Strategic Policy Planning Department Colonel G.Saikhanbayar.
