Special commemorative silver coins released
SocietyUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the establishment of banking and financial system in Mongolia, the Bank of Mongolia (BoM) enriched its collection with silver coins.
The bank issued 1 oz and 5 oz 999 silver coins titled ‘Mongolbank 95’, one of which commemorates national banknotes since the Mongolian Revolution of 1921, while the other has a number ‘95’ written in Mongolian script, which represents the time since the establishment of the bank in 1924.
Moreover, the BoM issued ‘Mongol Bodon’ (Mongolian wild boar) coin for its ‘12 Animal Signs’ collection. ‘Mongol Bankhar’, the first coin of the collection was issued on the occasion of the Year of Dog in 2018. The 1 oz ‘Mongol Bodon’ coin is 999 pure silver and 38.61 cm in diameter.
BoM issued its first commemorative coins made of gold, silver, brass and nickel in 1971, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Mongolian Revolution of 1921.
