Society
Ulaanbaatar,
October 20, 2025, /MONTSAME/. For the first time, the city
of Ulaanbaatar issued a bond worth MNT 500 billion on the domestic capital
market, of which MNT 300 billion was invested in the Buuruljuut Power Plant
project.
Subsequently,
the first unit with a capacity of 150 MW was commissioned in December 2024 and
began supplying electricity to the Central Energy System. The plant’s second
150 MW unit has now been commissioned and began supplying energy to the system
on October 18, 2025.
Specifically,
the construction, installation, and testing of the second 150 MW unit of the Buuruljuut
Power Plant were fully completed, and the unit was connected to the Central
Energy System on October 18, 2025, at 8:00 a.m., more than a month ahead of
schedule. As a result, the Buuruljuut Power Plant now supplies a total of 300
MW of electricity to Mongolia’s national energy system.
At
full capacity, the plant will be capable of generating enough electricity to
power 963,000 households across Mongolia. Moreover, operating at full capacity,
the two-unit 300 MW power plant is expected to produce 2.4 billion kWh of
electricity annually.
