Foreign Minister holds phone conversation with Canadian counterpart

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Minister of Foreign Affairs D.Tsogtbaatar held a telephone conversation with his Canadian counterpart Francoise-Philippe Champagne today, June 12.
The sides stressed the importance of working together to overcome the global spread of the "COVID-19" pandemic, which has brought unprecedented challenges to the international community.
While briefing on the measures being taken by the Government of Mongolia against the pandemic, Minister D.Tsogtbaatar said that the pandemic shows that the countries must be ready to cooperate in the face of such a large-scale threat in the future. Moreover, he proposed the establishment of an international emergency medical service under the auspices of the World Health Organization, saying that confidence in health security would be important in the post-pandemic world.
The Canadian Foreign Minister reaffirmed his commitment to work with the international community in the fight against the pandemic. He noted that the Canadian side focuses on reviving the economy and preventing disruptions in international food supplies. Canada has been organizing international efforts to respond COVID-19, developing diagnostics and treatments, and intensifying vaccine development.
The Ministers expressed satisfaction with the Mongolia-Canada relations and cooperation, and discussed issues of mutual interest in regional and international relations and planning of post-pandemic cooperation, including high-level reciprocal visits.
