Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/ Mongolian National Commission for UNESCO held its meeting to review its 2019 actions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on February 6, 2020 with the presence of members of the commission and representatives of related ministries and agencies.

At the meeting, D.Tsogtbaatar, Minister of Foreign Affairs and chairman of the Mongolian National Commission for UNESCO, commended that the significant works reflected in the action plan for 2019 have realized successfully.

The traditional technique of making Airag in Khokhuur and its associated customs was inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2019. ‘Inverted Triangle’ ethno dance performance and ‘Million days of Mongolia’ photo exhibition were organized at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, in December 2019. Furthermore, Mongolia was appointed as a member state of the Intergovernmental Council of the UNESCO Programme ‘Management of Social Transformations’ (MOST) as a result of the IGC election held during the 40th session of the UNESCO General Conference in Paris.. Afterward, an irregular meeting was held to elect the MOST Intergovernmental Council’s President and four Vice Presidents, at which Mongolia was elected as the Vice President.

At this time that UNESCO confronts the problem of implementing its missions and programs due to decreased financing from its member countries, it is vital for Mongolia- a member state to consistently fulfill its obligations and support the organization’s activity, emphasized D.Tsogtbaatar.

The Minister also introduced measures to be implemented this year and provided relevant instructions.
