Intensive milk farming project to be implemented with Belarus

On December 6, Acting State Secretary of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and
light Industry T.Jambaltseren and Minister of Agriculture and Food of the
Republic of Belarus Anatolii Khotko
signed a cooperation agreement on the establishment of milk clusters in Mongolia
between the Agriculture Ministries of the two countries in Minsk, Belarus.
The
increase in livestock population over the recent years is leading to overgrazing, changes
in crop yield, and degradation in soil fertility, the Government of Mongolia made a decision on crop farming zones and set policies and goals to develop intensive livestock
farming together with crop farming in that areas and increase livestock productivity and approved
the National Program on Intensive Livestock Farming in January, 2019. Under the
program, a joint working group has been set up to implement a project to establish several milk clusters with 600 head of cows in Mongolia with funding of export loan between the Governments of Mongolia and Republic of Belarus.
