‘Seedstars World’, the largest startup competition that takes place in over 85 cities of the world is to be held for the third time on August 30-31 in Ulaanbaatar.  A total of 43 teams got registered to compete this year.

Maximum number of alternative military personnel set

Regulation on best herders and agricultural workers renewed
At its meeting held on August 28, the Cabinet approved an updated version of the regulation to select the best herder families, farmers and dairy farmers. The necessary funds for their awards will be allocated to annual state budget.

Consultative meeting on human rights reporting takes place
The United Nations Human Rights Council discussed the second national report on human rights situation in Mongolia in 2015, giving national guidance to the Government of Mongolia. The Government will introduce the third national report on human rights situation to the UN Human Rights Council in 2020.

NEMA officer participates in UN ESCAP dialogue
Senior officer at the Disaster Management Department of the National Emergency Management Agency, Major Ch.Lkhamjav is participating in the Expert Dialogue on Scaling Up Regional Cooperation in Multi-Hazard Early Warning Systems in Asia-Pacific with a focus on flood and drought, which is organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok, Thailand between August 26 and 29.

Some lands in Ulaanbaatar taken as state special-use lands
 On August 28, the Cabinet decided to acquire a 10 ha land in Baganuur District of Ulaanbaatar under state special use in order to build a hazardous waste facility as well as take the Central Wastewater Treatment Plant in Songinokhairkhan District and 22 ha land around ash handling tank of the Thermal Power Plant 4 to treat and bury sewage sludge. Their position of a geographic location, size and boundaries were also redefined.

Flood-affected children from Siberia return home after month-long stay in Mongolia
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. From July 16 to August 25, summer camps in Mongolia received a total of 42 children from Russia's flood-hit towns of the Irkutsk Oblast, Nizhneudinsk and Tulun. On August 25, the children returned home after staying at the Nairamdal international summer camp and Selenge camp of the Erdenet Mining Corporation for more than a month.

Khalkhiin Gol Battle anniversary medal awarded to Russian Knights team members

New aerodrome facility built at Zavkhan aimag’s airport
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. An aerodrome facility complex of the Donoi airport of Zavkhan aimag was commissioned on August 24 as a part of a project to increase the capacity of the airport. The complex, composed of paved runway, landing field and  drainage system, is constructed by “Khurdnii Zam” LLC.

On August 26, Minister of Health D.Sarangerel and officials led by WHO Country Representative for Mongolia Sergey Diorditsa worked at Khuree Maternity Hospital of the Capital City and presented four birthing beds with the financing of WHO to the National Center for Maternal and Child Health and Urguu, Khuree and Amgalan Maternity Hospitals of the Capital City.
