Ulaanbaatar, May 06, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The “Micro Lion Robot-2025” Championship of Ulaanbaatar City was held on April 3-4, 2025.

The Championship, aimed at fostering children's technical and computational thinking as well as enhancing their independent learning skills, is distinguished by its use of the “Lion Robot” educational device, designed and developed by Mongolian engineers and youth. This year, a drone competition was introduced to the Championship for the first time, adding a new level of excitement and breadth to the event, boosting participation, and providing a strong impetus to align modern technological advancements with students’ learning approaches.

More than 350 students from 160 teams representing 37 schools in the capital city and the aimags competed in the Championship, demonstrating their knowledge, creativity, and problem-solving skills through self-designed robots. Participants contested in eight categories — robot soccer, sumo robots, LEGO builds, line followers, cube collectors, drones, and more — across different age categories.

The Championship offers children and young students a valuable opportunity to apply their basic knowledge of subjects, such as mathematics, physics, computer science, and technology to real-life situations. As a result, students develop their skills in electronics and programming — from beginner to advanced levels — while preparing to take part in both national and international contests, ultimately shaping themselves into the skilled engineers of the future.

The Championship was jointly organized by the Department of Education of Ulaanbaatar City, the Governor’s Office of Bayanzurkh District, the Academy of Inventors of Mongolia, and “Lion Robo” Company.
