54.9 Percent of Construction, Capital Repairs, and Maintenance Completed in Local Areas

Ulaanbaatar, November 14, 2024 /MONTSAME/. According to preliminary results of the first nine months of 2024, construction, capital repairs, and maintenance reached MNT 6.4 trillion, of which MNT 6 trillion were completed by domestic construction enterprises and MNT 435.8 billion were completed by foreign enterprises.


In the preliminary result of the first nine months of this year, construction, capital repairs, and maintenance increased by MNT 683.8 billion, compared to the same period in 2023. It was mainly due MNT 466.3 billion increase in the construction, capital repairs, and maintenance completed by domestic enterprises. Of contributions by domestic enterprises, the private sector has performed construction, capital repairs, and maintenance worth MNT 5.9 trillion, an increase of MNT 490.3 billion compared to the same period in 2023.


In the first nine months of 2024, the share of the total works carried out by domestic enterprises was as follows:

  • Construction, capital repairs, and maintenance accounted for 37.4 percent;
  • Residential buildings- 31.8 percent; 
  • Non-residential buildings- 27.6 percent;
  • Engineering construction- 3.2 percent. 


According to preliminary results of the first nine months of this year, non-residential building works amounted to MNT 2.1 trillion, an increase of MNT 169.7 billion compared to the same period in 2023. Moreover:

  • Non-residential buildings grew by MNT 166.1 billion,
  • Commercial and service buildings increased by MNT 61.6 billion, 
  • Hospital buildings rose by MNT 3.6 billion. 
  • Industrial buildings dropped by MNT 49.6 billion,
  • Educational and cultural buildings declined by MNT 12.0 billion. 


Completion of construction, capital repairs, and maintenance by aimags:

  • Umnugobi aimag- MNT 907.4 billion,
  • Darkhan-Uul aimag- MNT 322.1 billion,
  • Khentii aimag- MNT 274.6 billion, 
  • Dornogobi aimag- MNT 240.9 billion. These stand for 54.9 percent of the total construction, capital repairs, and maintenance of all aimags.

 

In the first nine months of 2024, Oyu-Tolgoi underground mine, railway, and road construction were underway in Umnugobi and Dornogobi aimags, road repair, expansion, and residential construction works in Darkhan-Uul aimag, and agricultural complex construction works in Khentii aimag. 


The preliminary results for the first nine months of 2024 show that construction, capital repairs, and maintenance completed in Ulaanbaatar City amounted to MNT 2.8 trillion, or 47 percent of the total, a decrease of 0.5 percentage points compared to the same period last year.


Construction and capital repairs: Economic activities directed to the creation, renovation, repair, or extension of fixed assets in the form of buildings, land improvements of an engineering nature, and other constructions such as roads, bridges, dams, etc.

Residential building: Construction of at least half is used for residential purposes. 

Non-residential buildings: Minor parts of the building(less than half of the area) are used for dwelling purposes.

General engineering construction: All construction works not classified under building construction, including construction of railways, roads, bridges, highways, airports, water supplies, sewages, dams, irrigation, etc.
