559.8 Thousand Trees Planted in Ulaanbaatar This Autumn

Ulaanbaatar, November 7, 2024 /MONTSAME/. Between October 4-26, 2024, under the slogan "Green City-Citizen Participation," 559,802 trees and shrubs were planted in the nine districts of Ulaanbaatar City with the participation of 23,084 individuals and 1,052 enterprises.


Additionally, 15,974 households in ger districts have planted 44,425 trees in their yards. In the capital, grass lawn was placed on 67,084 square meters of public area, and flowerbeds have been prepared across 19,851 square meters. Moreover, seedling and sapling trade fairs have been organized in five locations throughout the city, providing standard saplings and seedlings, technical instructions and recommendations to enterprises, organizations and citizens, as well as overseeing the origin of the seedlings. 



The autumn tree planting was held as part of the “One Billion Trees” National Movement initiated by the President of Mongolia, with the aim of reducing the effects of climate change, conserving and increasing forest and water resources, maintaining ecological balance, promoting the culture of tree planting, and raising public awareness. 



As part of the “One Billion Trees” National Movement, a total of 3,369,619 trees and shrubs were planted in Ulaanbaatar between 2021-2024. As of the fall 2024, trees were planted in the following locations: 


  • The “IGM” Park in Bayanzurkh district- 8,267 trees, 

  • The “Green Wall” Strip along the Turgen River in Khan-Uul district- 10,570 trees,

  • The “New Nalaikh Park” in Nalaikh district- 1,671 trees,

  • The “Bayangol Park” in Bayangol district- 1,292 trees, 

  • The “Khairkhan Development Center” in Chingeltei district- 256 trees,

  • The Aits Valley in Khan-Uul district- 1,680 trees, 

  • Gachuurt Road-1, “Working Office of the Governor of Ulaanbaatar- Arboretum” in Bayanzurkh district- 30,460 trees, reported the Media and Public Relations of the Governor’s Office of Ulaanbaatar City.
