Ulaanbaatar, July 2, 2024 /MONTSAME/. The “Literary Culture of Mongols: Chinggis Khaan Stela- 800, Tsogt Taij Stone Insciption-400” International Scientific Conference was held at the Great Hall of the Chinggis Khaan National Museum of Mongolia on July 1, 2024.

According to the Resolution of the Government of Mongolia in 2023, the 800th anniversary of the “Stele of Chinggis Khaan” and the 400th anniversary of the “Tsogt Taij Stone Inscriptions” will be celebrated in 2024. As part of the celebration, the international scientific conference was held to evoke pride in the traditional Mongol script and culture, promote Mongol studies, and preserve and protect Mongolian literary heritages.

At the Conference, the Director of the National Council on Language Policy Dr. L. Dashnyam said, “Mongolians have a tradition of preserving their history, culture, and way of life by carving them onto stone. It is deeply commendable that we are studying these inscriptions from our past. Even now, Mongolians carve and erect stone statues. No nation on earth writes its records onto stones the same way as the Mongols. The historic feat of the farthest arrow shot made by Yesunge the Sharp is depicted on the Stele of Chinggis Khaan.”

At the Conference, over 20 foreign and domestic researchers and scholars gave presentations.
