Ulaanbaatar, May 30, 2024 /MONTSAME/. During the Cabinet meeting on May 29, 2024, Minister of Environment and Tourism of Mongolia Bat-Erdene Bat-Ulzii introduced the 2024 Summer Weather Forecast.

Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia Sainbuyan Amarsaikhan, Minister of Environment and Tourism of Mongolia Bat-Erdene Bat-Ulzii, Minister of Construction and Urban Development of Mongolia Tserenpil Davaasuren, and Governor of the Capital City and Mayor of Ulaanbaatar Nyambaatar Khishgee were tasked with implementing preventive measures against the dangers and disasters of flash and fluvial flooding in the upcoming 2024 summer season.

This summer's forecast predicts precipitation level will be at the national average or exceeding across most parts of Mongolia. A rise in the frequency and intensity of sudden downpours, floods, hail, lightning, and dust storms has been observed in recent years due to climate change. Therefore, the National Agency for Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring of Mongolia urges the public to stay informed from professional organizations, be aware of the dangers of floods and rising water levels, mitigate risks from heavy storms, avoid settling in low-lying areas or near riverbeds, and use both traditional and modern protection methods for flood and lightning.
