Speaker Participates in Ceremony on International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers

G.Zandanshatar participated in the International Day of United Nations
Peacekeepers event held at the "Mongolian Soldiers for Peace"
Memorial Complex in National Garden Park in Ulaanbaatar city.
Chairman G.Zandanshatar extended greetings on the International
Day of United Nations Peacekeepers to the esteemed generals, officers, and all
peacekeepers who are carrying forward the noble mission of serving for the sake
of global peace and stability, upholding the honor of Mongolia and its soldiers.
Mr. Zandanshatar highlighted the continued fulfillment of Mongolia’s commitment
to international peacekeeping operations.
The Speaker emphasized the
importance of countries around the world coming together to overcome challenges
and conflicts caused by geopolitical and geostrategic confrontations,
socio-economic crises, climate change, and rapid technological advancements. He
also noted the critical role of close collaboration of countries in strengthening
the United Nations as a community of human solidarity, revering trust, respect,
and friendship. Mongolia’s participation in peacekeeping operations tangibly
contributes to implementing the state policy of ensuring the country’s freedom,
independence, and sovereignty through political and diplomatic means.
On this occasion, Chairman
Zandanshatar presented the Ministry of Defense with the original copy of the Parliamentary
Resolution on Approving the Policy to Modernize and Upgrade the Weapons and Equipment
of the Armed Forces. He also mentioned that during its spring session, the
Parliament is holding final discussions of several draft laws, including the
revised Law on Participation in Peacekeeping Operations, amendments to the Law
on the Legal Status of Military Personnel, and amendments to the Law on
Pensions and Benefits for Military Personnel. These bills are expected to be
finalized and approved by the Parliament shortly.
By resolution of the United Nations General Assembly, May 29 is observed annually as the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers.
