One Billion Trees: 30 Million Trees to Be Planted in 2024

Ulaanbaatar, April 30, 2024 /MONTSAME/. The annual National Tree Planting Day will be organized on May 11-31, 2024, as a month-long campaign.


Director-General of the Forestry Agency of Mongolia Oyunsanaa Byambasuren stated today, "This campaign will be implemented under the centennial of the forestry sector in Mongolia."


In celebration of National Tree Planting Day, Ulaanbaatar City will hold exhibitions and sales of saplings at three locations: Tenger Plaza, Liberty Square, and the garden in Dambadarjaa. Similar exhibitions and sales will be held in the capitals of aimags and soums.


The National Tree Planting Day will officially start on May 11, 2024. As part of the “One Billion Trees” National Campaign, more than 30 million trees will be planted this year.



In the capital, 310 public entities and organizations have been planting trees at 8 locations for the past three years. This year, they will continue their efforts by caring for their trees and planting new ones. The afforestation and tree planting activities will be conducted by solving the water problem in accordance with the Forest Management Regulations issued by the Ministry of Education and Culture 


Additionally, under the “One Billion Trees” National Campaign initiated by President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, 41.5 million trees have been planted and grown over the past period. Also, 60 million seedlings and saplings have been prepared and reserved.
