Mongolia and UN Hold Meeting of Joint Steering Committee
PoliticsUlaanbaatar, April 1, 2024. /MONTSAME/. The Extended Meeting of the Joint Steering Committee of the Government of Mongolia and the United Nations (UN) was held on March 28, 2024, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia.
The meeting participants discussed the implementation of the
Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework 2023-2027 for the year 2023,
including achievements, challenges, the work plan for 2024, and future focus
areas, expressing their positions on these matters.
In 2023, under the Mongolia-UN Sustainable Development
Cooperation Framework, 158 projects and programs were implemented with funding
of USD 51.5 million in the following three areas:
-ensuring human development and well-being,
-supporting green, inclusive, and sustainable growth,
-upholding people-centered governance, the rule of law, and
human rights.
The members of the Joint Steering Committee discussed the
priority areas in 2024 and proposals for jointly implementing projects and
programs under the Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework. The members
recommended that UN organizations should coordinate their operations and
financial resources to implement projects and programs efficiently in line with
the development policy and needs of Mongolia.
