Adoption of Minimally Invasive Orthopedic Surgery

Ulaanbaatar, November 27, 2023 /MONTSAME. Doctors from the Spine Surgery
Department of the National Trauma and Orthopedic Center of Mongolia (NTOCM)
successfully performed treatment of the L4-L5 spinal motion segment to remove
the intervertebral disc to relieve nerve root compression using a CONMED 4K UHD
spinal endoscopy equipment and "Bbraun" surgical instruments.
Performing
arthroscopy, a minimally invasive alternative to standard open surgical
techniques, using the latest technology has many benefits including smaller
incisions, minimal soft tissue trauma, shorter period for rehabilitation, and
faster healing time.
The
surgical team included Dr. L. Bat-Erdene, Head of the Department of Spine
Surgery of the NTOCM, Dr. B. Battogs, and Dr. T. Dalgerkhuu, Senior Physician
of the Department of General Surgery of the Second State Central Hospital.
