Tree Planting on the 75th Anniversary of the Diplomatic Relations between Mongolia and the DPRK

Ulaanbaatar, October 10, 2023 /MONTSAME/. Commemorating the 75th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), and the 35th anniversary of the visit of North Korean Leader Kim Il Sung to Mongolia on the 6th of this October, the Office of the President of Mongolia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in Mongolia jointly planted trees near the Secondary School in Altanbulag soum, Tuv aimag.

 

In his opening speech, S. Lundeg, Senior Advisor to the President of Mongolia emphasized that the ‘One Billion Trees’ initiative, which the President of Mongolia first announced at the General Debate of the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly has expanded into a nationwide movement. He also expressed Mongolia's commitment to steadily develop further the traditional friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries. “I am confident that the trees that we have planted today will grow as a symbol of goodwill and friendship between our two countries.”  The Secondary School in Altanbulag soum, which was built in 1960 with a grant from the Party and Government of the DPRK, is a sign of the longstanding traditional friendly relations with the DPRK.

 

Senior Advisor to the President of Mongolia S. Lundeg,  Advisor of the President on Foreign Policy E. Odbayar, Advisor to the President of Mongolia on Environment and Green Development Policy N. Batkhuu, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea O Sung-ho and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the teachers and students of Secondary School in Altanbulag soum took part in the tree-planting activity, organized as part of the “One Billion Trees” National Campaign, initiated by the President of Mongolia U. Khurelsukh.
