Defense Minister meets his Indian counterpart

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Defense Minister of the Republic of India Rajnath Singh is paying an official visit to Mongolia on September 5-7 at the invitation of Minister of Defense of Mongolia G.Saikhanbayar.


The Defense Ministers of the two countries held a bilateral meeting today.


At the outset of the meeting, the Mongolian Defense Minister thanked his counterpart for accepting his invitation and visiting Mongolia. He then expressed confidence that this visit of the Indian Defense Minister to Mongolia after 16 years will bring substantial results and will play an important role in the expansion and development of relations and cooperation in the defense sector of the two countries.



After expressing gratitude to his Mongolian counterpart for the warm welcome, the Indian Defense Minister voiced confidence that the defense and security cooperation between the two countries and the relations between the armed forces will be further deepened and developed as a result of the visit.


The parties noted the successful development of cooperation in the defense sector of the two countries in the form of mutual military visits at all levels, consultations between the Ministries of Defense, training of military specialists, peacekeeping, and joint training and exercises, and they expressed commitment to further strengthening the cooperation.


Moreover, the parties concurred that the visit is significant for the military cooperation between Mongolia and India, strengthening military trust and mutual understanding, and ensuring stability in the region. Readiness was also mutually expressed to work together to elevate the defense sector relations and cooperation to a new level.




Following their meeting, the Defense Minister of the two countries participated in the opening ceremony of the Information Security Training Center under the National Defense University.


The training center was established within the framework of the 2015 memorandum between the Governments of Mongolia and India.


The establishment of the training center will make an important contribution to strengthening Mongolia’s capacity to specialize and empower the students of the National Defense University and the officers of military organizations in this field.
