Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene attends Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On February 4, Prime Minister L.Oyun-Erdene attended the XXIV Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony that took place in Beijing, China. The event was attended by the Heads of State and Governments of a total of 32 countries as well as executives of international organizations.

 

With the 2022 Winter Olympics, the Chinese capital becomes the first city to host both the Summer and Winter Olympics. Over 3,000 athletes will be competing in 15 disciplines across seven sports during the event. 

 

 

This will be the 15th time for Mongolia to compete in the Winter Olympic Games.


In the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, three athletes will be representing Mongolia in skiing events. The Prime Minister said, “Under the challenging circumstances of the pandemic, the people of Mongolia and the Government expressed solidarity with the people of Japan, and competed in the Summer Olympics. 

 

This time, one of our two eternal neighbors, the People’s Republic of China is successfully organizing the Winter Olympics during a very difficult time of the pandemic. And in order to express our solidarity, Mongolia is also participating in the Beijing Winter Olympics. For the three Mongolian athletes competing in the skiing events, I wish great success on behalf of all our people.”
