Politics
Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. The Second Consultative Meeting
between the ministries of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and the Republic of Chile
was held virtually on January 27.
The delegates of the two countries were led by N. Ankhbayar,
State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and by Gloria Navarrete
Pinto, Secretary-General for Foreign Policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
of Chile.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on opportunities to cooperate in the mining, agriculture and food industries, as well as ways to expand economic and cultural ties between the two countries. The Export Promotion Institute of Chile (ProChile) briefed on the country's policies and measures to increase non-mining exports.
Chile alone provides about 30 percent of the world's copper
consumption. The country is internationally recognized as a model with
its economic diversification through the promotion of non-mining exports. Mongolia
and the Republic of Chile established diplomatic relations in 1971. The 50th
anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two
countries was marked last year.
