Ambassador U.Enkhtuvshin meets Russian Senators
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Ambassador Extraordinary and
Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the Russian Federation U.Enkhtuvshin has met
with six senators headed by First Deputy Chair of the Federation Council
Committee on Science, Education and Culture Ilyas Umakhanov.
At the outset
of the meeting, Ambassador U.Enkhtuvshin said, "Last year, bilateral
relations were full of important events. For example, the parties widely
celebrated the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations
between Mongolia and Russia and took concrete steps to advance relations and
cooperation. President U.Khurelsukh's state visit to Russia, business talks and
meetings with President Vladimir Putin and the leaders of the upper and lower
houses of the Russian parliament have been very fruitful". The Ambassador
also said that he would be pleased to work closely with the senators of the Federation
Council to implement the agreement reached by the two heads of state.
The Russian senators
expressed support for intensifying inter-parliamentary cooperation between the
two countries, establishing a new parliamentary joint commission, bringing
Russian-Mongolian trade and economic cooperation to a new level and expanding
cross-border cooperation.
The sides exchanged views on issues such as the construction of a natural gas pipeline from Russia to China through Mongolia, animal health programs, the export of Mongolian meat, educational cooperation, defining priorities of scholarships provided to Mongolian students by the Russian Government and Russian language training.
