60th anniversary of Mongolia-Laos diplomatic relations to be celebrated in 2022

Director General of the Department of Asia and the Pacific at the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs E.Sarantogos held a virtual meeting with Viloth Soundala,
Director General, Asia, Pacific and Africa Department, Ministry of Foreign
Affairs of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, on December 24. Ambassador of
Mongolia to Laos J.Byambasuren and Ambassador of Laos to Mongolia Phengsavan
Keopaserth took part in the meeting.
The department directors discussed the joint celebration of the 60fh anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Laos and current issues of bilateral relations and cooperation. They talked about organizing a series of events to promote the history of bilateral friendly relations to the people of the two countries and identifying in which areas to cooperate in the future and agreed to hold the intergovernmental meeting and the consultative meeting of foreign ministries, which have been suspended due to the pandemic, next year.
The sides also agreed to take
actions to establish documents required for connecting the two countries by
rail in connection with the recent establishment of a high-speed railroad in
Laos. Expressing an interest in strengthening cooperation with the Association
of Southeast Asian Nations, the Mongolian side talked about cooperating with
Laos in joining an appropriate mechanism for cooperation.
Mongolia established
diplomatic ties with Laos on September 12, 1962.
