Parliament Speaker meets Ambassador of France

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Speaker
of the State Great Khural G.Zandanshatar held a meeting with Ambassador of the French
Republic to Mongolia Sebastien Surun.
At the beginning of the
meeting, Speaker G.Zandanshatar congratulated the Ambassador on his
appointment, emphasizing that the State Great Khural and the Government of Mongolia attach
great significance to the friendly cooperation with France and that France is a
third neighbor in Europe, with which Mongolia has shared values of democracy, human
rights, freedom, and the rule of law.
Ambassador Sebastien Surun noted
that the State Great Khural has a major role in strengthening democratic
institutions in Mongolia and addressing numerous issues such as foreign affairs.
Mentioning the Speaker’s participation in the Summit for Democracy, the French
Ambassador confirmed his views on the parliament’s role in bilateral relations.
Speaker G.Zandanshatar said
the summit focused on ensuring human rights and combating corruption, adding “The
Parliament aims at becoming a legislature that respects human rights. A clear
example of this effort is the establishment of a parliamentary group against
corruption and the adoption of the law on conflict of interest”
The sides discussed the
current state of relations and cooperation between the two countries. Moreover,
the Speaker of State Great Khural underscored that the visit representatives
led by chair of the French-Mongolian friendship group in the Senate of France
Philippe Mouiller paid to Mongolia in September 2021 elevated relations and cooperation
between the two countries to a new level.
