December 20, the Mongolian People’s Party’s Group in the Parliament supported to
extend the effective period of the Law on Prevention and Response to the
COVID-19 Pandemic and Reducing the Adverse Effects on Society and Economy
(COVID-19 Mitigation Law) for six months.
Head of the MPP Group in the
Parliament, MP D.Togtokhsuren said, “The pandemic still exists, and in some
parts of the world the COVID-19 infection has not declined. The borders closed,
causing the economic difficulties. Considering the situation, the party group supported
to extend the validity of the COVID-19 Mitigation Law until July 1, 2022. It will
be submitted to the Parliament after discussion at the Cabinet meeting.”
He also said that due to the
pandemic situation, the law still needs to be in effect. If the law is repealed when the pandemic has not yet ended, many COVID-19 restriction –related
measures such as isolation will be stopped. As the borders are closed,
regulations are in need.
