President U. Khurelsukh holds talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. After the one-on-one meeting, President U. Khurelsukh, who is on an official visit to Russia, held talks with the Russian President Vladimir Putin on December 16 in the Kremlin.
During the talks, the Presidents summarized the development
of relations over the past century, exchanged views in detail on further goals
and areas of cooperation and major joint projects, and also outlined the
prospect of the cooperation for the next century.
Both Presidents proudly noted the good tradition of mutual
assistance and good neighborly ties between the peoples of Mongolia and Russia,
formed during the past century, expressed their views, “Close and friendly
cooperation over 100 years is a rare historical precedent. Our
relationship is an exemplary historical relationship.”
Attaching great importance to the 100th anniversary of the
establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the Presidents
expressed their satisfaction with the fact that it is being widely celebrated
throughout the year according to the special plan, and confirmed their commitment
for enriching the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with new content and
developing intensively.
During the talks, the two sides exchanged views on a wide
range of issues related to bilateral cooperation in politics, security,
defense, trade, economy, culture, education and humanity.
The Presidents stressed the importance of constantly developing the relations between the sectors further, making efforts to expand the scope of economic cooperation to bring it to next level, as well as promoting trade and investment.
President U.Khurelsukh noted that taking the advantages of
its geographical location linking Asia and Europe, Mongolia aims to become a ‘Transit
Mongolia’, a hub for trade, transport and logistics networks, and invited the Russian
partners to cooperate in major railway and road projects.
The parties affirmed to continue technical, technological
and infrastructure modernizations to improve the economic efficiency of the
Mongolian-Russian joint venture ‘Ulaanbaatar Railway’.
The Heads of State also exchanged views on the opportunities to expand cooperation in energy, agriculture, construction sectors and oil product trade. President U.Khurelsukh said he hopes that Russia will pay attention on ensuring the stability of oil supply to Mongolia.
The Presidents expressed their satisfaction with the successful
implementation of the trilateral project on the construction of gas pipeline
from Russia to China through Mongolia and confirmed their continued support required to authorized entities.
Moreover, the parties expressed support for the
implementation of the project to create the Mongolia-Russia-China economic
corridor.
The parties noted the importance of modernization of
checkpoints, increasing their throughput, creating a
cross-border zone of bilateral cooperation.
The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to protect environment, combat climate change and deepen cooperation in the fields of
culture, education, science and technology.
President U.Khurelsukh briefed on ‘One billion trees’
nationwide campaign, expressing interest in actively cooperating with the Russian
side. In turn, the Russian President stated that he would instruct to explore possibilities of cooperating within the campaign.
Following the Mongolian-Russian talks, the Presidents
U.Khurelsukh and Vladimir Putin made statements for the press and announced the Joint Declaration on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the establishment
of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Russian Federation.
