Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. Yesterday, December 16, President of
Mongolia U. Khurelsukh and his Russian counterpart V.V. Putin had a one-on-one meeting
in the Kremlin.
During the meeting, President U. Khurelsukh expressed his
gratitude for organizing reciprocal visits on the occasion of the 100th
anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two
countries, despite the difficult situation with the pandemic.
Mr. Khurelsukh underscored that the time has come for elevating bilateral relations and cooperation to a new level. Mentioning that a goal has been set to become a ‘Transit Mongolia,’ he highlighted ongoing successful implementation of the project on the construction of a gas pipeline from Russia to China through Mongolia, which was first discussed with President V.V. Putin during his visit to Russia in 2019 as Prime Minister of Mongolia.
The President of Mongolia also noted the need of establishing
an energy corridor between Mongolia, the Russian Federation and the People's
Republic of China.
Mr. Vladimir Putin expressed his belief that the Mongolian President’s visit will be successful and bring good results. “As for the economic
cooperation, last year it decreased by 20 percent due to the pandemic, but this
year, in the first three quarters it has increased by 25
percent. There is every reason to believe that it will reach pre-pandemic
level,” said the Russian President.
