Request put forth to prepare school counselors at French universities

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On November 24, Minister of Education and Science L.Enkh-Amgalan received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of France to Mongolia Sébastien Surun.
This year marks the 95th anniversary of cooperation between Mongolia and France in educationsector. More specifically, the first group of Mongolian students went to study in France in 1926, highlighted Minister L.Enkh-Amgalan.
In the framework of the intergovernmental agreement signed in 2015, 10 Mongolian students are involved in scholarships for master’s degree programs at French universities each year. The Education Minister requested support in increasing the quota to involve postgraduate students in the fields of medicine, mining, agriculture, science, creative industry, and transport logistics.
Starting from this year, school counselors have begun to offer their services for children at general education schools. In its framework, an online training session was organized in cooperation with the University of Bordeaux. In connection with the matter, he then also put forth a request to cooperate by preparing school counselors at French universities and exchange practices.
Ambassador Sébastien Surun expressed support for the implementation of long-term projects and programs in the sector of education and science, and noted his satisfaction with the French classes being taught at School No. 1 in Ulaanbaatar city.
