Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On the occasion of the 859th birth anniversary of the Great Chinggis Khaan, the National Pride Day, the ceremony of the Nine White Banners took place at the Sukhbaatar Square.
The Nine White Banners were brought out to the central square by honor guards, who later rode on nine yellowish horses around the State House in a clockwise motion. Ceremonial music was played by the orchestra of the General Armed Forces of Mongolia as the ceremony took place.
The symbol of great power as well as independence and unity for the Mongolian state—the Nine White Banners is regarded highly by the public.
Under the rule of a sole leader, when Mongolians enthroned Chinggis Khaan as the King of the Great Mongolian Empire, they raised their Nine White Banners and had the Great Khaan pay respects. And ever since then, the White Banners have been placed at the State Palace to symbolize the Mongolian state in a perpetual state of prosperity and its people living peacefully.
The Nine White Banners are made with batches of white horsehair sourced from throughout the country.
Since the corresponding Presidential decree issued on January 9, 2012, National Pride Day is being marked for the 9th year in 2021.
