“Press and media have a significant role in continuing Mongolia-Russia friendly relations”

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The joint Mongolia-Russia press and media forum is being co-organized by the Confederation of Mongolian Journalists and the Rossotrudnichestvo agency of Russia in Ulaanbaatar. In connection, Speaker of the State Great Khural G.Zandanshatar received the Russian journalists participating in the forum on November 3.
At the start of the meeting, Speaker G.Zandanshatar said, “I express my gratitude to the two parties co-organizing a joint press and media forum on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and Russia. Russian culture and education had a significant role in the development of the modern journalism sector in Mongolia. At a time, an entire generation of journalists were able to study at Russian universities and colleges. The continuous development of bilateral relations over the course of a century - and reaching the level of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership is a major achievement of the friendly relations between the two countries’ peoples. In order to bring the benefits of the friendly relations to our people and continue to have the traditional relations between the two countries, the press and media sector has a significant role as the quick and informative reportage by journalists are important for bringing bilateral cooperation and mutual trust between the two countries’ peoples to a new level,” and wished success for the forum.
During the meeting, the Russian journalists asked a few questions from the Speaker regarding the historic 100th anniversary of Mongolia-Russia relations as well as what is being planned to increase bilateral trade turnover.
To a question about what he considers important for the development of parliamentary cooperation, the Speaker answered, “Relations between the two countries’ legislative bodies are successfully being developed. As mutual visits have become more stable and the cooperation between the parliamentary friendship groups have become more active, both sides are sharing their experiences with approving laws, monitoring its implementation, and properly fulfilling the duty to represent the people. In order to further develop the relations and bring it to a new level, the State Great Khural will closely cooperate with the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly, and the State Duma of the Russian Federation.”
