Ambassador to the UN hosts an event of honor for 60th anniversary

On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Mongolia's accession to the United
Nations, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the United
Nations V.Enkhbold has hosted an event of honor, with the presence of President of
the 76th Session of the UN General Assembly Abdulla Shahid and some senior UN
officials were present.
UN Assistant Secretary-General for Middle East, Asia and Pacific Mohamed Khaled Khiari, High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States Courtenay Rattray, and Permanent Representatives and Ambassadors of more than 20 countries to the United Nations attended the event.
In his opening remarks, Permanent Representative and Ambassador V.Enkhbold emphasized that Mongolia's accession to the United Nations was a historic event, which confirmed the country's independence and sovereignty.
Mr. Abdulla Shahid, in his greetings, noted that as a member of the United Nations, Mongolia actively takes part in international joint efforts for maintaining international peace and security, promoting democracy, forwarding socio-economic development as well as ensuring human rights.
During the event, a video presentation on the 60th anniversary of Mongolia-UN cooperation was presented, and Mongolian folk art performances were shown.
