Agriculture Minister participates in United Nations Food Systems Summit

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light industry Z.Mendsaikhan took part in the United Nations Food Systems Summit during the General Debate of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The UN Food Systems Summit was announced by the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, on World Food Day as a part of the Decade of Action for delivery on the SDGs by 2030. The aim of the Summit is to deliver progress on all 17 of the SDGs through a food systems approach, leveraging the interconnectedness of food systems to global challenges such as hunger, climate change, poverty and inequality.
In his statement at the event, Minister Z.Mendsiakhan presented the actions the government is taking on food and agricultural production amid the pandemic, mentioning Mongolia’s food system, and its characteristics and challenges. "In accordance with Mongolia's long-term policy document, Vision 2050, which includes the goal of ‘creating an inclusive, competitive, and climate-resilient food and agricultural system’, we are seeking to reform the food system, ensure private sector participation, and take other prompt measures," said the Minister.
