Permanent Representative to UN meets UNODC Executive Director

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the United Nations (Vienna) G.Battungalag on August 5 had a meeting with Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Ghada Waly to discuss cooperation. 

 

Executive Director Ghada Waly expressed her pleasure with Mongolia’s active participation in the activities of UNODC, emphasizing that representatives led by the country’s Minister of Justice and Internal Affairs virtually took part in the 14th UN Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice held in Japan. The UNODC Executive Director also extended an invitation to participate in the Ninth Session of the UN Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) Conference of States Parties to take place in Egypt in December.

 

Permanent Representative G.Battungalag underscored that specialists of the Mongolian Independent Authority Against Corruption have been working in the team on the establishment of Global Operational Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities (GlobE Network), sharing best practices, and that Mongolian youth have successfully participated in the UNODC Youth Forum over the last three years.

 

The sides discussed opportunities for expanding cooperation between Mongolia and UNODC in preventing cybercrime and combating money laundering.
