25,000 trees to be planted under tree planting campaign

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ 25,000 young trees will be planted in 100 khoroos of the capital city as part of a campaign encouraging every household to plant trees.
The campaign was launched at the initiative of the Minister of Environment and Tourism to increase green spaces in the capital city on the occasion of the National Tree Planting Day, which falls on the second Saturday of May and October every year.
The government’s action plan for 2020-2024 includes increasing the country’s forest areas to 8.6 percent of land. To achieve this goal, it is planned to improve forest fire prevention and management, clean forests, and create new forests.
