“Agreement on the Immunity and Privileges of the International Criminal Court” ratified

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The Agreement on the Immunity and Privileges of the International Criminal Court (ICC) was discussed and ratified by the State Great Khural (Parliament) of Mongolia during its plenary session held on December 17, 2020.


Within the framework of the agreement, initially was adopted on September 9, 2002 in New York during the meeting of the Assembly of the State Parties, the participants, such as judges and prosecutors elected by the Assembly of States Parties of the ICC, enjoy the same privileges and immunity as diplomatic representatives under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.


Ratification of the agreement is significant for Mongolia to fulfill its obligations under the Rome Statute of the ICC and implement the recommendations of the UN Human Rights Council.
