German Embassy to provide assistance to 1550 people

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. Due to the strict-lockdown regime in Mongolia since November 13, the need to support vulnerable groups is growing rapidly.


Funded by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Mongolia, the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare of Mongolia and People in Need (PIN) NGO will provide assistance to 1550 people, particularly students in dormitories, people with disabilities and other people severely impacted by the pandemic.


Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Mongolia Jörn Rosenberg said, “Today is International Human Rights Day. Access to food, health care and safe environment are the part of fundamental human rights, and we must work together to protect the rights. I am pleased that the Government of Germany is supporting the Government of Mongolia and vulnerable people in this difficult time. We can overcome the negative impact of the pandemic only through cooperation”.




Within the framework of the assistance, e-vouchers worth MNT 100,000 will be distributed for buying food, medicines and basic necessities at certain supermarkets and pharmacies.


“Students in the dormitory, people with disabilities and other vulnerable groups are being given vouchers to buy food and basic necessities. On behalf of the Government of Mongolia, I would like to express my sincere gratitude”, said A.Ariunzaya, the Minister of Labor and Social Welfare.


People In Need NGO will be distributing the e-vouchers, conducting a survey on people and households, who need the assistance in the coming weeks. The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Mongolia annually supports project implementing organizations that works to improve the livelihoods of vulnerable people.
