Khovd /MONTSAME/ The religious section of the Museum of Khovd aimag has a gilt sculpture of Green Tara created around 18th to 19th century.

The Green Tara is seated on an oval lotus pedestal with one leg crossed and the right hand placed on the other leg and embellished with lotus shaped decorations. The Tara is wearing a pair of earrings and prayer beads with a ceremonial scarf hanging down on both sides.

The 48 cm tall 24 cm wide sculpture that weighs 3,980 grams was brought to the Museum as an exhibit in 1961. Its creator is unknown, but the unique creation surely displays the fine artistry of a Mongolian sculptor, highlights the Museum's curator.
