Online training kicks off on pressing issues of trade unions during COVID-19

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On November 4, a two-day online training kicked off under the theme, ‘Operations of Trade Unions during the COVID-19 pandemic and pressing issues’. Over 120 representatives from the trade union committees of the capital city and the aimags of Khentii, Sukhbaatar, and Dornod are participating in the training being jointly organized by the Confederation of Mongolian Trade Unions (CMTU) and Japan International Labor Foundation (JILAF).
The training aims to inform about the basic labor rights of workers in rural areas, especially those in the sectors of service, animal husbandry, and farming during the pandemic, and advocacy for labor and social protection, introduce the CMTU ‘Development Program-2030’ document, and develop an action plan aimed to improve the knowledge of local trade union members by holding a discussion.
At the start of the training, CMTU President Kh.Amgalanbaatar, Secretary General G.Adiya, and JILAF President Nagumo Hiroyuki gave opening remarks, wishing success for the joint training on pressing issues of trade unions during the pandemic.
Presentations on topics including, ‘Japanese trade unions’ movement during the pandemic, pressing issues, and good practices’, ‘Pressing issues in the CMTU operations, implementation of CMTU Development Program-2030’, and ‘Practices being implemented on issues regarding labor, occupational safety and health, social protection, and social partnership, and its pressing issues’, and discussions are planned to be organized during the two-day training.
