Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Minister of Health has been holding series of joint meetings with representatives of second and third level hospitals, discussing their development programs, pressing issues and seeking solutions for them.
On August 27, Minister of Health T.Munkhsaikhan got acquainted with development program and encountering problems at the State Central Second Hospital.
One of the key issues to be tackled in health sector is decentralization of medical assistance and service. Therefore, the Ministry of Health has set a goal to introduce cancer screening and treatment in largest hospitals in the capital city and rural areas.
"In frames of it, combined PET-CT imaging technology,
which is mainly used in diagnosis of cancer, cardiac disease and nervous disorder, is to be introduced in the State Central Second Hospital. By introducing the technology, it will
become possible to diagnose cancer at the cellular level and whether it spreads
to other body parts from where it started in addition to bringing economic benefits to the patient. Moreover, it is
of significance to slow centralization and share work loading of the
National Cancer Center. To slow centralization, the first stage types of medical assistance and
services will be added at the State Central First Hospital, State Central Second
Hospital, State Central Third Hospital, University Hospital of the Mongolian
National University of Medical Sciences and general hospitals to be commissioned in Songinokharikhan district," the Minister highlighted.
