Child welfare system improvement discussed with UNICEFSociety
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Minister of Labor and Social Protection A.Ariunzaya met with Representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in Mongolia Alex Heikens to exchnage views on numerous matters such as child protection services, prevention of child maltreatment, and improvement of child welfare system.
At the meeting, Mr. Alex Heikens noted the importance of promoting social welfare for vulnerable groups, especially, equally providing child benefits to disadvantaged children. He also said the sides should put more emphasis on child protection services and prevention of child maltreatment and cooperate more closely in increasing the funding for the efforts, while expressing his hope that cooperation between UNICEF Mongolia, and its important partner, the Labor Ministry, will further expand.
Minister A.Ariunzaya undertook to prioritize social welfare for vulnerable people and to continue with the monthly meetings she had had with the organization as the chair of the National Statistics Office.
Also, the UNICEF Representative invited the Labor Minister to participate in an upcoming virtual UNICEF conference on child benefits as a speaker.
