A stamp themed “Architecture of Mongolia” of the State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet releasedArt & Culture
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On the occasion of the 70th jubilee of the establishment of the State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet, a postage stamp themed “Architecture of Mongolia” has been released. The stamp features specialty of architecture of the theatre and its historical value. Designed by J.Gankhuyag, the 30 х 40 mm sized stamp is printed with 20 thousand serial numbers.
Building of the State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet is a vivid demonstration of development of synthesis of arts, which is a combination of classic neoclassicism and the national fine arts and it is considered one of the post-war constructions and historical monuments.
German architect Gerhard Kozel developed the blueprint of the central theatre in 1942 and it was opened in 1949. Interior and exterior decoration of the theatre was made by Mongolian senior artists led by B.Chimed including O.Tsevegjav, D.Choidog, D.Manibadar, Ya.Yadamsuren, S.Choimbol, N.Jambaa, A.Davaatseren and A.Dorjgotov.
