Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. The cabinet at its irregular meeting held today, June 1, Children’s Day, decided to establish “Nairamdal-2” international children’s camp in the Khuvsgul Lake National Park as part of the second phase plan of the Children Development and Protection National Program approved by the government in 2017.
The new camp will help enhancing the types, quality and accessibility of services for children who account for 36.8 percent of the total population of Mongolia and create child-friendly environment.
The Nairamdal – 2 camp, fulfilling international standards of camp service for children, will be equipped to accommodate for up to 500 children at once on the basis of the principles of eco-friendly and green environment. The camp will also play an important role in maintaining children’s right to develop and participate and raising citizens who are proud of their national heritage, culture and motherland. Also, the camp activities will aim at promoting Mongolia in the world through international children staying at the camp.
As of 2019, there are 39 children camps nationwide and 14 are state-owned and 25 are privately owned. However, only 22.5 percent of total eligible children are estimated to have stayed at camps. Considering the lack of participation, the cabinet considered it necessary to build children camps in every aimag of the country.
