Mongolia-Kazakhstan working group convenes virtually
PoliticsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The 8th meeting of the
intergovernmental commission scheduled for April has been postponed due to the
Covid-19 pandemic. On May 14, a video conference of the working group of Mongolia-Kazakhstan
Intergovernmental Commission for trade, economic, scientific, and cultural
cooperation took place.
The virtual meeting was co-chaired by E.Sarantogos, Director
General of the Asia-Pacific Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Kanat
Olzhabayev, Director of the Department for Multilateral Relations of the
Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and attended by
Ambassador of Mongolia to Kazakhstan L.Battulga, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to
Mongolia Zhalgas Adilbayev, and representatives of the Ministry of Road and
Transport Development, Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry,
Specialized Inspection Agency, and Erdenes Alt company of Mongolia and other
officials.
At the beginning of the meeting, Ms. E.Sarantogos conveyed
the greetings of Mongolian chair of the intergovernmental commission, Minister
of Labor and Social Protection S.Chinzorig to the Kazakhstan's representatives. Deputy
Minister of Trade and Integration Kairat Torebayev also extended his greetings.
The sides stressed the successful implementation of the
actions agreed at the 7th meeting of the Mongolia-Kazakhstan
intergovernmental commission. They discussed the intensification of the
projects agreed during Prime Minister U.Khurelsukh’s visit to Kazakhstan,
especially, bilateral trade and economic and infrastructure cooperation and
agreed to hold a series of virtual meetings between corresponding ministries of
the two countries.
The Kazakh side undertook to send a list of products the country can supply to Mongolia with specific proposals to support bilateral trade. The two sides also agreed to develop a 2024 road map for the intensification of Mongolia-Kazakhstan trade and economic cooperation in the near future and organize the 8th meeting of the intergovernmental commission when the pandemic has passed.
