Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ At its regular session held on April 17, the Parliament approved a dismissal of J.Byambadorj from his position of Chief Commissioner and Member of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).

61.4 percent of the members present at the session backed 68-year old Byambadorj’s request to resign from his position due to health reason.

During the session, MP M.Oyunchimeg said “It would be proper to select a person with high qualifications in the area of law as a Head of the National Human Rights Commission. And there are many cases around the world, where a woman is appointed as a head of human rights organization."

Furthermore, the Standing Committee on Justice was obliged to appoint an acting chief commissioner from the current commission members until the selection of the next head of the NHRC.
