Loan repayments of individuals decreased by 14.3 percent

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/.  At the end of February 2020, the total amount of outstanding loan given to entities, enterprises and citizens amounted to MNT 17.3 trillion, decreased by MNT 729.2 billion (4.0%) from the previous month, while it was increased by MNT 108.6 billion (0.6%) from the same period of the previous year. For the total outstanding loans, MNT 8.8 trillion (50.7%) were given to individuals and MNT 8.6 trillion (49.3%) were given to enterprises.


At the end of February 2020, the performing loans amounted to MNT 14.5 trillion, decreased by MNT 841.8 billion (5.5%) from the previous month while it is increased by MNT 7.4 billion (0.1%) from the same period of the previous year. The performing loans make up to 83.4 percent of total loans, showing a decrease of 0.5 points from the same period of the previous year.


At the end of February 2020, the principals in arrears amounted to MNT 1030.3 billion, increased by MNT106.1 billion (11.5%) from the previous month and by MNT 103.5 billion (11.2%) from the same period of the previous year. The principals in arrears make up to 5.9 percent of total loans, showing an increase of 0.5 points from the same period of the previous year.


At the end of February 2020, the non-performing loans in the banking system amounted to MNT 1.8 trillion, increased by MNT 6.5 billion (0.4%) from the previous month while it is decreased by MNT 2.4 billion (0.1%) from the same period of the previous year. The non-performing loans in the banking system make up to 10.6 percent of total loans, showing a decrease of 0.1 points from the same period of the previous year.


Loan repayments to commercial banks by individuals reached MNT 725.1 billion, decreased by MNT 121.2 (14.3%) from the same period of the previous month, while it was increased by MNT 39.9 (5.8%) compared to the same period of the previous year.


Composition of loan repayment shows that mortgage loans were 2.8 percent (MNT 20.1 billion), small and medium business loans was 22.9 percent (MNT 166.0 billion), consumer loans was 26.3 percent (MNT 190.5 billion), salary loans was 17.9 percent (MNT 129.9 billion) and pension loans was 1.0 percent ( MNT 7.4 billion) and other loans was 29.1 percent (MNT 211.1 billion), respectively.
